It has been a year since I released Making Room and it is Christmas in July in the studio, so I’m celebrating the release of A Mary Maeburne Christmas. I believe it is the perfect Christmas read. I think it is best read in front of a fire with a cup of hot cocoa and warm, fuzzy socks, but if Christmas in July gets you giddy I’m sure you would enjoy this book. However it is the second book in a series, so it probably makes more sense after having read All of a Sutton. The town and the environment in those two books is something to experience. I do not say that lightly. I never set out to be a writer. The ability, the gift came along after brain surgery and is truly, to me, unexplainable and miraculous. I’m not saying I’m great at it, but I had the guts to try and the follow through to get it done five times. And I find that fascinating. And don’t worry I’m the only one that finds it so, but “they say” that happens when you put a lot of effort into things. In other words, effort equals thinking something of your own is good or valuable.

Just a new little logo for my writing using one of my drawings.

This is just one of the fun pictures I’ve captured lately. My husband and I sat outside for hours just watching this storm role in. And I’ve always wanted to capture a nice lightening image.

And this is just another summer evening shot. Some of my other pictures have been added to the My Favorite Photograph folder. Follow the Photography tab above.

Just me painting.

For all who may be wondering, this was a silly attempt at using oil pastels to create a beach scene. The horizon isn’t straight, but I still framed it and it is hanging in my family room because I can always use the reminder that imperfect things are still of value and importance and worthy of love. I do see its beauty too. I have stood on the beach and seen the sun glimmer on the water and even on the sand and I love the look and that feeling. In those moments it makes me feel like I have some part in the revealing of a new day. Keep scrolling to see two of my favorite beach oil paintings.

Above are two of my favorite pieces that I have sold along my painting journey. I miss these pieces because they were each a labor of love. These both have a piece of my heart and soul mixed in with the paint. The owners will never know what went into each piece. Art works that way. Life works that way. We work that way. We may look at something or someone and think we know, but there is no way we can ever really know.

I’ve been so busy setting up the new studio that I’ve paused the writing. I had such fun writing the Christmas book that I wanted to sit in the joy of that for a while. I did however whip out my watercolors and paint a bit last week.

I finally took a picture of all of my novels together. As many of you know, I like to create an immersive experience for my books. Each book has recipes and a playlist and items I created that pertain to each book. Some are on the website, but most are not. Just ask if interested. Also, for all the book clubs out there I have questions and door prizes for fun book club experiences. Just contact me via the Contact tab and I’ll get back to you. If you’ve made it to the bottom of this long homepage and if you have book feedback, just let me know. I do so appreciate all of the kind feedback I’ve already received!

This is my new precious pup. I share him here because he spends as much time in my studio as I do.
